Island Park 2010

We just got back from the annual Viehweg trip to Island Park and this year, Lamont came with us. Everyone from my immediate family was there as well as Grandma & Grandpa Viehweg, of course and we made it up in time to atleast see some of the Idaho/Provo Viehweg clan before they headed home on Sunday. I didnt take too many pictures but here are a few of the things we did/saw while we were up there:

This is in Yellowstone Park, I believe part of the Firehole

(sad that I've been there dozens of times and I don't know what everything is still)

We didn't get to see many animals this year, just buffalo and elk. Lamont was really hoping to see a wolf! We never even saw a moose near our campground, which was disappointing.

Right across from our camp site is the river, it's beautiful! My mom and I especially love it when, on occasion, in the morning there is mist coming off the river - it's amazing!

We also went to Mesa Falls, these are of the upper falls
Lower Falls

One day we drove up to West Yellowstone for lunch and to just bum around the town and on the way back to camp we took a detour around Quake Lake, which I've never seen. I wish I would have gotten a better picture, because it was amazing to see. If you don't know the story of Quake Lake you can learn a little here or here. It's pretty amazing and then to find out that my grandparents were traveling from Glacier National Park home (with all their kids, my dad included) and had planned on camping in that little valley the night the earthquake hit, but decided to stay and extra night in Glacier instead.... crazy!

Other things we did that I did not get pictures of:
Canoeing just me and Lamont. Let's just say we managed to make it without tipping over but that we definitely took the entire time to figure out when I said I wanted to go left that did not mean to paddle on the left side....
Chipmunk hunting with Keegan
Eating way too many sweets
Old Faithful in Yellowstone
Lots of games of Bupkis, Boggle, Uno Attack
Big Springs
Eating the most gigantic, delicious s'mores ever!
