I've found a new love for an alternative work-out. Hiking. I always had it in my head that I didn't like hiking, but then once I actually went on one (a real one-one where you break a sweat) I've decided I love it. Between the hikes at girls camp and the fact that Lamont and I have kinda been on a hiking kick- we've done 3 pretty good -I've found that a good hike can be just as hard, or even harder than 1-2 hours in the gym, and it's way better because you get to be outside, with beautiful scenery.
We've done a hike at the mouth of litttle cottonwood canyon up to some lake, gone up to Twin Lakes (this one was killer- so many loose rocks) above Silver Lake @ Brighton and most recently we did the The Gad (II) Valley Trail at Snowbird.
The Gad Valley Hike was pretty nice and easy at the beginning- it was a well groomed trail- I think at the base of the hike we were at about 8100 ft. elevation. We made it up to the Mid-Gad Restaurant which is at 9215 ft. We climbed over 1100 ft in about an hour. There was a stretch that was so steep, I'd say it was like walking on a treadmill on about an incline of 15+. We were dying-sucking air, dripping sweat and both felt completely out of shape but so fun at the same time.
When we hiked up Twin Lakes we actually took a backpack with snacks, lots of liquids and my camera:

Looking down at Silver Lake as we were about a quarter way up the mountain.
